Welwyn Garden City is about 20 miles (32km) north of London and is on the Great North Road (A1) and the "East Coast Main Line" which links London with Edinburgh. The journey by train from King's Cross to Welwyn Garden City takes less than 30 minutes. |
| The Garden City is situated between the historic towns of St. Albans (Roman Verulamium) and Hertford (the County Town of Hertfordshire) and is just north of Hatfield. It takes its name from the village of Welwyn which is some five miles north of Welwyn Garden City. |

St Bonaventure's church is situated at the southern end of Parkway which is the dual carriageway running north-south through the centre of Welwyn Garden City. The position of the church is indicated by the red circle on the map. |
